Logo Design 3

Below is my third and final design for the logo, unlike the other two I have chosen to add an image with the whole title of festival instead of just the starting letters of each word. I have chosen to use a laptop to put the writing onto (The font will be chosen when creating logo if chosen) so that it relates to the festival. I believe that this is an effective way of promoting the festival however, I also feel that there is too much going on for a logo, but if this logo isn't chosen then I am likely to try using the digital part of the design (i.e. the laptop) to one of my poster design.

Logo Design 2

Below is my second logo design which like my first design focuses on having the the starting letters of each word to be integrated together. However, this design can be created in a way that doesn't take up too much space like the first one and because it is an easier design to create, looks more professional because I am able to focus very much on small bits of detail. If I were to pick this design I would look at the colours I would use to make each letter stand out from one another making the logo eye-catching.

Logo Design 1

Below is my first logo design, for this I have chosen to focus on having the beginning letters of each word (Brighton Digital Festival) overlapping much like the Playstation logo shown in the previous post which has the 'P' and 'S' interacting. I do quite like this logo because it is quite unique and it would be recognizable, however, it is a very hard logo to create and because of this reason doesn't look very professional, also, it is quite big and so takes up a lot of space. I may use this design and develop it but I need to compare it to my other designs when they are finished.

The Logo

The first thing that I started to think about when told the brief of this project was the logo for my chosen event, Brighton Digital Festival. I believe that logos are hugely important in advertising events and an original and eye-catching one will be more memorable and therefore promote the event more successfully. Logos are used to identify to a certain product/event/etc. and if the logo doesn't look appealing then it will reflect the subject negatively. I aimed to create three logos which from there I could choose one to develop further. Below are some very successful logos which I came across in my research that inspired me in my own creations;

Learning to use Photoshop and Illustrator

When starting the course I had only used Photoshop minimally and was very unsure on how to create a poster using the software and I had not used Illustrator at all before. Whilst first using the softwares I found it very difficult to do even the easiest of tasks and trying to create a poster at this stage with a lack of knowledge on how to use the softwares wasn't benefitting me in the slightest. Therefore I decided to watch a few instruction videos into how to use each software and started experimenting with some of my poster ideas. Over the past few weeks I have become much more comfortable with both Photoshop and Illustrator, which is reflected through my poster designs and other pieces of work in my portfolio which will be looked at later on in the blog. Below is the video that helped the most as I have tended to use Illustrator more than I have Photoshop in order to develop my ideas;
